SUMMARY:ALL AFRICA INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:Many African countries have been affected by conflicts lea
ding to the the deaths of about five million people in the last fiftee
n years. Armed Conflicts in Sudan, Rwanda , Burundi, Congo, Sierra Leo
ne, Uganda, Liberia, Angola and Somalia have been the most publicized
at the international level but inter-ethnic conflicts are the order of
the day in most of the African countries, The result of these conflic
ts is bloodshed with millions of Africans been resettled from their ho

o deep are the pains of most of the conflicts experienced in Africa th

and transformation simply lack the language and resources to solidly a

oaches” provide an accessible language, compelling processes that af
firm everyone’s creativity and, above all, an inclusive space that e
nables healing, genuine dialogue and transformation to happen particul
arly where the violent conflicts and pains are experienced by masses o
f people.\n\nThe festival will bring together over 1000 committed arti
stes-peace builders – including educators, dance artists, developmen
t workers, community animators and cultural activists – from Africa
and the Diaspora who continue to apply various shades of dance arts ap
proaches in their social change work. The one week intensive program o
f applied training, performances, exhibitions, and direct skills-build
ing experience will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, between 9th to 13th
December 2009. A select number of the participants will be awarded par
tial scholarships to attend the conference and festival\nVarious Artis
